UNSUNG HEROES: L'ORÉAL TRUE MATCH FOUNDATION

I'm kicking off my blogging every day in December (I need an acronym or something for this? BEDD? Don't think that works..!) with a new Unsung Heroes post. You can heck out the rest here but my Unsung Heroes are products that I use all the time and completely love nd would recommend to anyone, but I haven't actually really raved them on here before.

Today is the turn of my favourite discovery of 2014... L'Oréal True Match Foundation.

I've spoken countless times about how difficult it is to find foundation. I am ghostly white and drugstore brands just do not care about us Casper types, or much darker skin tones, generally. I also use NARS Sheer Glow that I rely love but at £31 it isn't cheap so I don't tend to use it on an everyday basis.
I'd heard a few people talking about this offering from L'Oréal so decided to check out what the hype was about.

First point to note is the shade range. Usually a drugstore brand may have 6-8 shades in the range. The True Match Foundation has around 20 shades that cover light to dark skin tones and warm, neutral and cool undertones. I have recently changed shades actually. I used to buy C1 Rose Ivory but I had started noticed it was looking a little too pinky so I have now changed to N1 Ivory which is much better for me. I have only used it a couple times so far but with it being one of the neutral shades, it doesn't have that pink undertone which was making it a touch too dark for me, The cost for this 30ml is £9.99 which I think is brilliant considering what an amazing foundation it it but, it is literally always on some kind of offer at Boots or Superdrug. I restocked the other week and it was only £6.99 in Tesco - absolute bargain!

Now the actual foundation...

The coverage is medium to full. It's very buildable and blends so well. I usually use the Zoeva 102 Silk Finish Face Brush or the Real Technique Buffing Brush.I find 1-2 pumps is enough for my whole face, depending on how well my skin is behaving. I put it on the back of my hand and then dot across my cheeks, on my chin, a little on my forehead and a dot on my nose. I blend all that in and then whatever is left on my hand I go over any areas that could use extra coverage and then just make sure everything is blended in around my jawline.
I don't tend to need to use much concealer on blemishes with this foundation s that covers them enough.

This foundation isn't dewy but it's not totally matte either. I would quite happily wear it without any powder but around my nose and chine can sometimes get oily in the day so I usually just put some powder on those areas. A lot of people liken this foundation to the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk however I have not used that to comment but L'Oréal do own Giorgio Armani to so it could be that similar formulas are indeed used.

On a working day I am putting makeup on around 8am and I get home just after 5pm. Obviously it isn't as perfect as first application but I don't retouch foundation during the day and it doesn't just fall off my face. I know it's still in place and looks good.
Another little bonus is that it contains SPF17. So if you don't wear a separate SPF or have it in your skincare then you can be assured that this contains some sun protection for your skin. Just remember that as it does have SPF, you will get flashback with flash photography.

Overall, this is a fantastic everyday foundation. As far as I can see, I will be repurchasing this for many, many years. It is a bargain and lasts me a good few months with everyday use. It has the perfect coverage and finish for me and the shade range is just brilliant.
Oh, and here is just one post that I'm wearing True Match in but if you have a read back through this years archive, I pretty much always wear it.

Have you used this foundation? Or have I tempted you to try it?
If you go on the L'Oréal website, you can get matched up and then get a sample posted to you. Just sayin'...
