B. PURE MICELLAR WATER VS NO7 CLEANSING WATER

B.Pure Micellar Water | No7 Beautiful Skin Cleansing Water

I've been using the No7 Cleansing Water to remove my makeup for a good few months now and it was featured in my December Favourites post. A couple of months back, Superdrug launched their new skincare and makeup range, B., and I was intrigued by it. I love Superdrug's own brand stuff. I find their products work well with my skin and it's cruelty free.
I noticed a bit of a buzz flittering around the blogging world over micellar waters. I'll be honest, I don't really know how, or even if, that is different from a cleansing water or why there's a huge deal but I am drawn in by hype and like a sheep I will give in to it.
I know there is a huge hysteria over the French brand Bioderma and I am aware that it is slowly making its way to the UK so no doubt if I see that in the chemist, I will probably buy it... I have noticed that states itself as a micellar water, too.

I've been using the No7 water for a few months and when it ran out I bought the B. one with pretty high hopes. I tried looking for reviews beforehand but I couldn't seem to find many. I have to say I was pretty disappointed. I don't really know what I was expecting but I am much preferring the No7 version.
The directions to use both of these products is very simple and the same for each: put on to a cotton pad and swipe across face. They are both easy to use and they do both take all my make up off.

I find that I need to use more of the B. water to get all of my makeup off and I think this may be due to the fact that the No7 has a really good pump to get the water out and the B. has the smallest hole to get the water out of. I also feel like the No7 is a lot more refreshing on the skin.

Now, I don't use cleansing waters to remove my eye makeup but when I wipe around my eyes with them occassionally I have got it in my eyes. The No7 one, no problem. It doesn't aggravate or hurt my eyes at all. You probably could remove your eye makeup with it but does say to avoid contact with eyes, so maybe not (?!) Don't take my word for that.
However, when I've accidentally got the micellar water in my eye... well that hasn't been as pleasant. It doesn't sting to like a painful level but it does sting a little for a minute and it's not a nice feeling.

My skin type is sort of in a transition period right now. The majority of the time I have fairly normal skin but recently (probably with the mental cold weather) I've been getting odd dry patches and odd oily patches. The micellar water says it's suitable for all skin types whereas the No7 one is from their Normal/Oily range (they have skincare ranges for each skin type.) The cleansing water is only available in this range and I would never describe my skin as oily but this works perfectly well for me and it doesn't mess up my skin.

Price wise, the micellar water costs £4.99 from Superdrug and you can get the No7 cleansing water from Boots for £9. There's 50ml more in the No7 version and if you're a regular shopper at Boots and have the Advantage Card you often get £5 off skincare vouchers so I usually buy this with one of them and it only costs me £4 then, bargain!

Overall, I'm probably not going to repurchase the micellar water when this runs out. I don't hate it and I'll keep using it but I feel the No7 water cleans my face much better and I'm happy to pay the full amount for it over and over.

  1. yes, if it says avoid contact with eyes that means don't use near or on your eyes as it will probably aggrevate them :/ I really want to try the No7 one! It does look like a good product
