LONDON FASHION WEEK: S/S15

Yep. It's that time already. Time for another season of Fashion Weeks across the globe to showcase the forthcoming season's new trends. I love what London have to offer. The designers just have something about them that the other fashion capitals just don't.

Having said that, I wasn't overly excited for kick off day this season like I usually am. Maybe as I'm struggling a lot to find clothes I actually like these days and I'm getting more into beauty? Who knows. I've never actually been to LFW. I just have to stick to the live stream over my laptop but one day I'd love to say I've actually been to a show.

ANYWAY...

Here's a look at my favourite collections from over the week...

LONDON FASHION WEEK: A/W 2014

Another London Fashion Week has now been and gone. Autumn/Winter is generally my favourite season as I love knitwear way too much! Having said that, I didn't really get into Fashion Week this season. I think it maybe due to not being able to catch a lot of the live streams like usual. But I wasn't overly thrilled with a lot of the collections that came out this season.
As ever though, I have put together my favourite of the runways for the upcoming season. Have to say that despite the beautiful actual show, I was a little disappointed with the majority of the Burberry collection. They had some nice pieces but nothing outstanding. Maybe because S/S14 was SO pretty. Or maybe because I'm not overly keen on a poncho-type garment making a comeback...

LONDON FASHION WEEK S/S 2014

So fashion week has been and gone once again and once again I was not there. I am determined to go one season, even if for just a day.
I have to say though, London Fashion Week SS14 just hasn't gripped me as much as usual. I usually drool over so many but when I was looking through the collections this year, I just wasn't feeling it.
Obviously, there are some that I've absolutely loved but even with collections I've liked, I've still not liked the entire thing. Which makes me sad? Did anyone else get the same vibe from this LFW?

I think overall my favourite collection was definitely Temperley London. With Jasper Conran and Tom Ford being close runners up. The Tom Ford collection, along with the models, was just FIERCE.
I really like the makeup that's been on the majority of the catwalks. It's been very soft and simple and a lot have gone for a bold, bright lip or kept to the minimal theme with nudes.
The hair is just something I can't get my head around. So many of the shows had their models done with the slicked back/wet look hair, very reminiscent of 90's grunge and I do no like it. The greasy side fringe in the Mulberry show was awful! The full fringe seems to be vanishing for the upcoming season which sucks for me... heh! I don't think I'll be getting rid for some time though.

As for the upcoming season's colours... I was surprised at how much black and dark colours there were, although I very much like it. I'm glad monochrome is still going strong. There also seems to be a lot of blue hues and nude/camel colours flittering around.

Finally, I'm so happy about the collar being prominent in so many collections. Peter Pan collars and collared shirts were everywhere not too long ago. I feel they've died down a bit this year so far but some of these collections have featured some really pretty ones and I'm really excited to see it filtered down to the high street. Some great examples in the J. JS Lee and Jasper Conran shows and Simone Rocha did too!



So there's my London Fashion Week picks! Hoping February is more to my taste for AW14. I do usually prefer that season..!

LONDON FASHION WEEK: A/W 2013

London Fashion Week is over for another season. The Autumn/Winter 2013 collections have been premiered in London over the last 5 days and to be honest, I usually prefer the A/W collections but this time they haven't "grabbed" me as much. Don't get me wrong, the collections I've loved, I have really loved but it was as though I was expecting something spectacular and there wasn't really anything away from the norm, with a couple of exceptions.

However, with that being said, I have a rather long list of my favourites that I tried really hard to whittle down so let's get one with it!

So what to expect come Autumn/Winter this year... the usually camel, tan, black and oxblood colours are obviously going to be sticking around. As it's getting towards the festive season, it's not shock sequins and metallics are about.
It also looks like we can expect a lot of leather (and wipe clean PVC by the looks of Topshop) which I got to be honest, I love! I think adding a piece of (faux!) leather can really make an outfit stand out.
I was surprised with the amount of bright colour in a few collections but absolute love it! Especially as they all seemed to incorporate 60's styling. I particularly loved Orla Kiely's collection. So chic, sophisticated and glamorous.
I cannot even being to explain how much I adore the entirety of the Burberry Prorsum collection. One day I will be rich enough to buy it all. If you didn't get to watch the live streaming of it then you should watch it here. I'm not a fan of leopard print usually but Christopher Bailey mixed it into the collection and it works really well and is a good update to the infamous trench coat. The heart print details are so cute as well!
And of course my beloved Henry Holland... How can I not mention House of Holland. I love how they are afraid to stand out and be different. I especially love the little martini glass prints.

As for make up on the catwalks, a huge bulk of it was all very natural and neutral colours. It seemed like the models were made up to look like they were barely wearing any. Lips and nails were often in nudes, cheekbones were high (obviously!), they was lots of contouring going on and brows were left natural. Maybe taking a bit of inspiration from the lovely Cara Delevigne, who had an incredibly busy fashion week popping up in every other collection!

LONDON FASHION WEEK S/S13

I've been slightly over excited by this seasons London Fashion Week and I couldn't narrow down my favourite collections anymore than I already have done. I had really high hopes before fashion week started and I certainly wasn't disappointed. My all time favourite designers are Hosue of Holland, Burberry Prorsum, Holly Fulton and Felder Felder and I adored all of their new collections for Spring/Summer 2013.

With it being collections for Spring and Summer it wasn't a huge shock that there were lots of pastel colours and floral prints flying around but this year there has also been prints and embellishment galore! There's been quite obviously a Nineties influence in creating their new collections for a lot of designers, seen predominantly in House of Holland and Moschino Cheap & Chic, and I absolutely love it! Tie dye, dungarees, neon, metallic, crop tops and even crimped hair... (although I won't be going back to the crimped hair look that's for sure!)
Metallic and other embellishments seem to be a big thing amongst the collections too. The trademark trench coat from Burberry got the colourful metallic treatment this time and it is fabulous! The finale of that catwalk show looked amazing.
As well as all of the craziness and colour, monochrome stuck around in some collections with lots of asymmetric lines and structure and effortlessly cool looks.
I'm very excited to see these looks filtered down to the high street next year.
