LIEBSTER BLOG AWARD

I've been tagged for the Liebster Award four times now so I thought it was about time I actually did it. The award is for bloggers with less than 200 followers as a way of saying their blog is really great and to encourage them to continue as well as being a great way of interacting with other bloggers.

The rules for the award post are:

You must post 11 random facts about yourself.
You must answer 11 questions from the person who chose you.
You must create a new set of 11 questions for who you tag.
You must then tag 11 blogs with under 200 followers and let them know

I have been tagged by The Pink Team, Dedicated Follower of Fashion and LissInc but as Mia tagged me most recently, I will answer her questions (but thank you to the other girls for tagging me!)

11 random facts:
  1. I dropped out of college after first year
  2. And have been working in retail for 4 years now.
  3. I've managed to been made redundant twice in 2 years though... :( haha!
  4. 9 years ago I went to Australia for Christmas and having a BBQ on the beach on Christmas Day is the weirdest thing.
  5. I failed my driving test 3 times, and my theory once.
  6. I have passed a year and a half ago though, yay!
  7. But I've still never driven on the motorway
  8. I enjoy 90's boybands, a lot.
  9. I love stand up comedy.
  10. I impulse buy constantly.
  11. I alphabetise everything.

Mia's 11 questions:

If you had to sum yourself up using 3 words, what would they be?
Clumsy, lazy, excitable

What is your favourite perfume?
At the moment, FAME by Lady Gaga. I will always love the original Kate Moss fragrance though but it's actually been discontinued now and I'm running out, boo!

What is your favourite musical?
Oliver! definitely is. Finally got to see it this year too. Joseph and the amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is a close second.

Is there a musical artist you listen to which others might not expect you to?
Taylor Swift is probably my biggest guilty pleasure. And One Direction. Can't help it, the songs are too catchy!

Which city in the world would you most like to see?
So many! I've still never been to London so that's at the top of the list (and the most achievable probably)

What's your favourite way to spend a Saturday night?
Friends, DVDs, cookies! And I do love a cocktail night in Wetherspoons.

Of all the movies released this year, what has been your favourite?
The Artist, definitely! Seems like it came out so long ago but it was only out here in January. I've seen so many films this year though. War Horse, Perks of Being a Wallflower and Brave are all on my favourites of the year list.

How many piercings do you have?
11. They're all in my ears but I only actually wear 4 mostly!

What's your favourite thing about Winter?
I despise everything about winter. Everything. Oh, except from that chunky cardigans come out and I love a cardigan!

What fashion trend are you loving most at the moment?
I really like the baroque print trend but I don't own any of it (yet).

And, how are you today? I hope you're well!
awh! I am very well because after a busy start to the week I now have two days off to look forward to!

I will tag:

And my questions are...

  1. All time favourite film that you could watch repeatedly?

  11. If you could have any super power, what would it be?

Thanks again to all the previously mentioned girls for tagging me! :)

CURRENTLY COVETING: COSMETICS

Recently I've become a lot more "in to" make up than I ever have been and I just keep buying stuff all the time. I blame the likes of Boots and Superdrug for 3 for 2 offers. You can hardly say no to that! (Superdrug are currently 3 for 2 on all make up and lashes, by the way!) So right now I'm lusting after quite a number of things but I'm very penny-less at the moment so I may have to hold out until payday for most of this.

MAC Diva, Lady Bug & Girl About Town | Topshop Crescent Moon Highlighter | Revlon lipstick in Black Cherry | Revlon Lip Butter in Candy Apple | Real Techniques Buffing Brush | Sleek Blush in Rose Gold | Models Own in Bare Beauty | MUA lip liner | Katy Perry "Oh Honey!" lashes | Nivea Express Hydration Primer

So, just one or two things there then...

As you can probably guess from that, I like lipstick. I have one MAC lipstick (Impassioned) and I love it so much and I really want more now. I think Diva is definitely the one I most want, though it does look quite similar to Topshop's Beguilded (which I already own). And I've read so many great things about Revlon lip products, I actually bought a matte lipstick of theirs in "Really Red" and it lasts so long so I'm impressed. I was going to buy the Black Cherry one but they didn't have any left, boo! The lip butters are hugely raved about everywhere too so I'm going to have to hope Superdrug's 3 for 2 is on for a couple more weeks.
Lip pencils is something I've been buying this last week too. I've bought a red and berry coloured one but most of my lipsticks are pink so it's probably a bit silly not to own a pink one!

The Topshop highlighter and Sleek blush are another two items that I'm jumping on the bandwagon about. I love the highlighter that is in the Sleek Contour Kit and I've read too many good things about Topshop highlighters so I really want to see what the fuss is about.
The Sleek blush... well the colour looks too nice in all the swatches I've seen and it looks perfect for Autumn/Winter. Unfortunately, my local Superdrug don't stock Sleek so I'll have to venture out to get it.

I made an order with Models Own when they did their half price summer sale and this was sold out then but I really want a nice nude polish because I don't have any and nude nails look so classy on everyone. I will have to invest!

Always wanted to try false eyelashes but I never have. I think I'm slightly afraid of the glue (I have a weird phobia thing with glue) and also about ruining my own lashes. Then Katy Perry released her range and that made me want to try them even more. Think I'm going to just go for it when we have our Christmas Do for work, eek!

The primer and make up brush aren't really cosmetics but they sort of fit in. I keep seeing the advert for the Nivea primer and I'm very intrigued. I think they say it's a moisturiser and also a primer which I can only see as time saving in a morning when I'm half asleep trying to make myself look like I'm bright and awake! And I do like Nivea products so I think it will be a good buy.
Then the Real Techniques brush is just another jump on the bandwagon thing. The buffing brush comes in the Core Collection and it's on sale on Amazon at the moment so I'm very tempted. Everyone raves this brush so much and I want to know why!

Just want to say a huge thank you to you all for following my blog. I hit 100 followers yesterday! So thrilled! That's more in just less than 2 months than the entire time I had my blog open the first time round.
THANK YOU <3

OCTOBER FAVOURITES

Sorry for how late this post is. I had intended to have it up on Wednesday but this week has been crazy busy and now I'm really ill, boo!
I love reading people's monthly favourites posts so here's mine for October..!

Simple Hydrating Light Moisturiser | ELF Brush Shampoo | Lush Lip Scrub | Sudocrem | Models Own "In The Navy" | Kate Moss for Rimmel 107 | Benefit Brow-zings

I bought the moisturiser at the end of last month when Superdrug had buy one get one free on Simple products and at first I wasn't overly thrilled by it but the more I've used it the more I like it. I used to just use E45 for moisturiser but this is so much lighter and soothing.

I posted about my first ELF purchase a while back. Since then I have made 2 more purchases from them. I only received the third in this week but the brush shampoo was in my second haul. I also bought the daily brush cleaner which I also like but the shampoo is brilliant. I wash my brushes every Sunday and it leaves them as soft as they were when I bought them and I've had no bristle fall out as of yet. I've been using it for just over a month now and I've hardly used any of it. So it's a total bargain for £3.75!

I bought the Lush lip scrub last pay day and it was the first thing I've ever bought from Lush. I am addicted to it! I think I may have over-used it when I first bought it but I tend to use it every night after I've done all my other skin care routine. It tastes so good too!

Sudocrem is probably a weird thing to include in a favourites post but this month my skin decided it hated me and broke out horrendously so Sudocrem has been my little life saver. I know it's most used for nappy rash but it does say on the label "acne" too and it works so well. Plus this huge pot was pretty cheap and the expiry date is 2017 so it's going to last ages.

When Models Own Facebook page got to 100,000 likes they did a 50% off everything sale so I treated myself to 5 polishes. They're so lovely and I already had a couple but this is definitely my favourite. You only need one coat as well to get a good solid coat. (I should have probably painted my nails prior to this post so I could have shown photos but I'm in bed, coughing my lungs up trying to write this!)

The new Kate Moss for Rimmel collection launched at the start of October and I was very excited with it being a matte collection. I've got lipsticks from her previous 2 collections and I love them so on the day it launched I spent way too long deciding which to buy. When I saw photos of the packaging before it launched, I wasn't sure I liked it as the other 2 collections were black with the autograph is red/pink but seeing it in person, I really like it. I ended up buying, what is apparently a huge blogger favourite, shade 107. It's a lovely dark red/almost berry colour and it's so lovely on. I think I may have to treat myself to a couple of the other shades because the formula of them is so nice and matte finishes are my favourite.

Finally..! In last months In Style magazine they were giving away free samples of Benefit make up. I love when magazines do this and I usually end up buying multiple copies just for the samples. I only bought one this time however and I got Sun Beam (which I really like! I prefer it to High Beam, too.) Inside the magazine there was a voucher to take to a Benefit stand for a free sample of the Bad Gal mascara. I already have a sample of this and to be honest, I don't like it all that much. I like mascara to be really volumising and thick and Bad Gal doesn't do that. However, it was free and it's always nice to have emergency mascaras. As part of it, the lady at the counter had to show me 3 products which was fine but I ended up wanting to buy them all. I settled on buying Brow-zings. I don't have a good relationship with my eyebrows, I absolutely hate them but I loved how she made them look with this product. I've used it practically everyday since buying it and it's definitely my absolute favourite product of the month. So easy to use with the angled and blending brush it comes with. I would definitely recommend it.

TRAFFORD CENTRE HAUL

As I mentioned in yesterday's post, today I went to the Trafford Centre in an attempt to find my dress for Christmas/New Year. I'm very impressed with myself. Not only did I find a dress (and shoes!), it's also not black! In fact, it's a little out of my comfort zone but it's so pretty and it's so lovely on.
Sorry that it's a bit photo heavy!

Nail polish: Gold Rush, Lip liner: Red Diva

Still taking advantage of Boots 3 for 2 offer (which I think ends in a few days!) All the Boots near me are too small and don't stock Models Own but I restrained myself to one bottle and I don't have any golds. I've heard a lot of good things about the Wake Me Up range by Rimmel and needing a new concealer I thought I may as well give it a go. Also been doing some reading up on lip liners. This one was really cheap so worth it to try out. Please let me know your favourite brands for lip liners though.

New Look

I'm never a massive fan of New Look but I do always like going in for a nosey and their shoes are very reasonably priced. These only cost £22.99! They come in black too.

Forever 21

Forever 21 opened a few months back in the Trafford Centre and this is very exciting for me. I just need to live in there! I had to really restrict myself. I'd taken so much into the fitting room with me. The shirt is beautiful though and I know I'll get a lot of wear out of it and best of all, it cost £11.50 at full price!
I've been wanting a cosy jumper as it's got ridiculously cold this last week and I love the colour of this one (which also came in black) and I think it was £18.75. It was definitely less that £20!
And the earrings... I'm drawn to anything with an anchor and this little set was about £3 for 3 pairs! So good!

 Topshop

My dress! My beautiful dress! It's such a beautiful colour. I found it in the sale in Topshop for £20 but it's actually from one of their concessions. (The label says "tfnn London") So definitely not black and lots of sparkle for the party season! And I got the shoes from New Look to go with it and they look lovely.
I feel like a mermaid wearing it!

I'm not going to be wearing it with tights, probably, but here's a photo of what it looks like on...

Huge apologies for (dirty) mirror photo! Just wanted to show how it looked on!

I'm all shopped out now and I'm going to have to be very good for the rest of the month. Eek!

PARTY SEASON DRESSES

There's only 2 months to go until 2012 is over! How mental is that? But the exciting bit is that in about 6 weeks time party season will begin. At work, we're having our Christmas meal/do on the 8th December so I've got a month to find the perfect dress and with November being a 5 week month I need to get one ASAP before I run out of money and time!

I've put together some of my favourite choices and hopefully I can find one when I go shopping tomorrow on my day off. (I'm never this organised so "hopefully" is probably the important word there.)

1 2 3 4 5

I always end up wearing black, no matter how hard I try to avoid it and tell myself I will get a coloured dress, I still end up buying a black dress every year.
I know that the teal one does come in black but it doesn't seem to be on the website at the moment and I think the embellishment is gold on that one, which I'd prefer, but again... black!
I'm really liking dresses that have the mesh panels at the top at the moment and, with being a dress I'm going to be wearing for the work Christmas do and probably on New Year's Eve too you've gotta have some sparkle in there!

I'm off to the Trafford Centre tomorrow and I will do my best to avoid the LBD but there's a reason it is a staple and a classic piece for every occasion..!
What are your thoughts? Are you already organised with your Christmas party dress?

EBAY CLOTHING SALE

Happy Sunday!

Decided it was time I got rid of a lot of clothes today and seeing as eBay has free listing for this weekend I have put a few items up on there. I've never actually sold anything on eBay before. I always feel like it'd be too time consuming (which, for the record, it was!) and it's just easier to take to the charity shop most of the time.

Anyway, I made a charity pile and an eBay pile (after my sister rummaged through everything)...

Bidding ends around 3PM BST next Sunday. Unfortunately it is only for UK residents however, if you live overseas and would consider buying anything then do let me know because if the items don't sell I may consider posting to you if you wouldn't mind me upping the price slightly just for the purpose of overseas P+P!

Have a lovely day x

DRESS LIKE... EMMA STONE

Sorry I've been quiet on the blogging front. a mixture of a lot of hours at work, injuring myself and lack of inspiration.
I had a really good response to the Kat Dennings post so I thought I'd do another to get back in to the swing of things but this time with my ultimate girl crush, Emma Stone.

BY DAY

BY NIGHT

Clutch bags; Dorothy Perkins (Gold & Black)

I adore Emma so much and I had a bit too much fun putting these collages together. Her day time style is very casual and she's very much a jeans and t-shirt kind of girl but her red carpet evening style is so different. Lots of pop colours, lovely shapes and structure and simple accessories. Her make up is always so effortless and beautiful too.

A LAD INSANE

Very short outfit post for a lazy day off today...

Top; Hero & Cape | Disco Pants; Glamorous | Shoes; Matalan | Collar; New Look

You may recognise the top from the payday wishlist a few posts back. I absolutely love it. It's just the right amount of loose fitting in the right places which make it great for tucking into shorts or skirts or my current love interest, my disco pants!
I'm not really a leggings person. I pretty much live in tights. But over the last year or so from reading other blogs and seeing so many of the American Apparel Disco Pants on everyone I was intrigued. Though, not enough to spend £70 on them. Of course, dupes have been popping up everywhere and the Glamorous ones have been floating around the blogging world. I tried them and instantly fell in love. I've worn them to death already.
I've been after a collar to go over tops for a while but I've never found one I really like that doesn't cost the earth. I have a Dorothy Perkins one but it doesn't quite sit right. This cost £4.99 from New Look and it's so pretty with the lace and pearl detailing.
And my shoes... I've worn them every single day since I bought them last week. I think they were £16 (possibly £14, I can't remember but great price none the less!) and they're so comfy! The gold toe cap and heel are very unique and I think they seem more expensive than they are. Not overly keen on them being suede, especially coming up to winter, but nothing some shoe protector spray isn't going to fix!
